Do you also love the soft, magical and sweet sound of the harp?
Have you seen the mini harps with fewer strings, called lyre harps, and wonder if they are easy or hard to learn how to play?

Is the Lyre Harp Easy to Learn
In short: Yes, the lyre (lyre harp) is one of the easiest instruments to learn how to play, even for beginners.
In fact, it is a perfect first instrument to learn. They require minimal effort to play, the sound is soft and quiet, and since they are diatonic you will be able to pick out tunes much quicker.
How many strings does a lyre harp have?
You can think of a lyre harp as a small harp that you hold in one hand and play with the other. The smallest ones may have as few as 6 strings, and then they go up to as many as 24 strings, and even beyond.
However, the more strings you have, the larger the instrument will be. And soon you end up with almost a full sized harp instead.
How to Tune a Lyre Harp
This is basically the only “hard” thing to do on a lyre harp. Because you need to tune the strings one by one with a tuner tool, instead of tuning pegs like on a guitar.
This means you will have to turn the tuning screws very carefully in tiny degrees to change the tension of each string.
I recommend that you use a tuner or tuner app on your phone, but you can also use a reference note on a piano keyboard for example.
