The Delay Effect (or echo effect) is a “brother” of the Reverb, in the sense that both these effects add space and depth to your sounds. However, delay is mainly used to add distinctive echoes.
You can choose the timing of the echoes, most often synced to a note value. You can color the echoes with saturation. Shape the delay sound with EQ and filtering etc. Use dual delays in stereo for a ping pong, or spread effect. All in all, the delay is a wonderful effect in music production.
