5 Best Piano VST PluginsPiano is the king of instruments, used in pretty much every genre of music, and incredible for music composers, producers, songwriters and music making overall.

If you have been making music for some time, I am fairly certain you have gone down that path of looking for more software piano plugins.

After making music since the late 90s, I have something like 30 different piano plugins in my collection. Let me share my top 5 list, and the reasons why I have chosen these:

5 Best Piano VST Plugins in the World

  1. Keyscape (Spectrasonics)
  2. Pianoteq (Modartt)
  3. CinePiano (Cinesamples)
  4. Addictive Keys (XLN Audio)
  5. Ascend (Heavyocity)

1 – Keyscape

This is my personal favorite piano plugin simply because of the amazing sound, tonal balance, dynamics and quick and easy sound shaping options.

It is my number one choice when I need a very close and intimate piano, as well as cinematic dreamy pianos.

The overall sound of keyscape is very warm, deep and “rounded”.

2 – Pianoteq

If you like to shape and craft your own unique piano tones, Pianoteq is incredible. Not only do you get a huge range of different pianos in this suite, but also a great number of completely different presets to choose from.

It also have unique features like sound layering and morphing. Plus you can control so many parameters to change the tone of the piano, including the microphone setup in a virtual room.

3 – CinePiano

If you are going for a piano sound for cinematic soundtracks, and that golden “hollywood sound”, CinePiano will give you exactly what you need.

Since it was recorded at the same Sony Scoring Stage as many blockbuster movies, it truly has that special sound and room tone.

4 – Addictive Keys

My favorite piano for that classic pop/rock studio sound. It can cut through the mix well, while not being too bright.

You also get a nice microphone setup that you can change, plus tonal controls for hard/soft tone and bright/dark character.

But overall, the standard presets get you close very quickly, with minimal tweaking.

5 – Ascend

This is my favorite sound design, shimmer, pad piano. It is amazing whenever you want to have a magical vibe to the sound, and especially a piano that is way back in the background.

It has an interesting blending matrix for sound design, and overall a very ethereal sound in most presets.
